Don’t

Live out each day like it might be your last,
Don’t plan for the future, don’t hide from the past,
Smile at strangers and you just might change a life,
Offer kisses and hugs even in pain and strife.
Don’t count all your money, count all your friends,
Don’t look to the dark side as a means to the end,
Shake off your stresses, your worries, your cares,
This life is a challenge, so take on the dares.
Don’t tell people your heartaches, tell them your dreams,
Let them know that life can be better than it seems,
Don’t number your problems, number the stars,
Gaze up to heaven and see the distance isn’t far.
Don’t let your whole life be ruled by your fear,
Cherish the memories of all things you hold dear,
Don’t hold back the tears as they fall from your eyes,
Don’t give in to sadness, or fall for the lies
You can fly with the angels, you can sing in the night,
Don’t let your head doubt what your heart knows is right,
Whisper a secret to the dawn of the day,
Look to your loved ones to show you the way.
Don’t run from the truth, but accept it with pride,
Don’t keep all your feelings sheltered inside,
Let your silver turn gold, let your hopes all come true,
Pray your joys will be many and your sorrows be few.
Let the glow in your heart reflect in your soul,
So you know what it’s like to have and to hold,
Til death do you part, may you treasure the sights,
That this life had to offer, its enchantments and delights.
Search for contentment in each person you meet,
Let yourself find freedom, don’t just stand still on your feet,
Dance, be at ease, for you’ve got one life to live,
Put your heart on the line and give it all you can give.

The Right Thing To Do

It was a very vivid dream: I was present at a meeting of a city or county council – one which you would expect to be divided into the usual political parties. Members always voted along party lines.

Suddenly, I was given an idea, and rose to say, “Instead of sticking rigidly to the party line, let us vote according to what is the right thing to do!”

That ‘right thing to do’ should, of course, be “what is seen to be right in God’s eyes” – the righteous thing to do, as guided by the Holy Spirit, and the result of prayer.

It is a very interesting thought when examining all the policies of the main political parties and to ask yourself whether God would be in agreement with them!

What Do You Want From A Sermon?

What do you want from a sermon?

Most Christians still believe sermons are important, but wish vicars would stop trying to be funny. In a survey launched by Resonate on 21st April, only 1.6% said they saw humour to be the most important element in a sermon.

Men in particular said they felt Biblical exposition to be the most important aspect in a sermon, at 49%, with women at 39%.

Sermons containing more practical application elements were seen more favourably by women, at 44% versus 36% for men. When asked if they felt sermons on the whole were outdated, 88% of the respondents either disagreed or strongly disagreed.

The survey also asked for participants’ views on male and female preachers. Although the vast majority said they had no preference in terms of a preacher’s gender, out of the 21% who did, 20% said they preferred men while only 1% said women.

This comes more than 20 years after women were accepted into ordained ministry in the Church of England, combined with women’s ministry being an accepted part of many Christian denominations.

The survey also asked for people’s views on their relationship with the Bible and the internet. Although 49% said they saw the internet as a good chance to engage with non-Christians, and nearly 30% said they use social media to share their Christian views and opinions, 64% said they do not use online relationships purely to promote the Bible

Are Sermons Outdated?

88% of church goers say no

Only 8% say yes

Do you prefer male or female preachers?

While 79% of respondents had no preferences, 20% of those who did preferred men, while a mere 1% preferred women.

Are Young People Given Enough Chance To Preach?

Most church-goers think that those under 21 are not encouraged enough to take the pulpit.

To expand the work that we do – and to enable us to reach more and more thirsty souls – we urgently need more monies.

My new eBook – PEACE – is only £1.95.

My Journey With The Holy Spirit

I have just uploaded my new video which describes my Journey with the Holy Spirit from my earliest days in a Methodist Sunday School to my present life, married to Marlene, and as a member of Beaufort Hill Methodist Church.

And, of course, my testimony includes how our Father God answered my desperate prayers when I was ‘dying’ and brought me back to life because as Jeremiah 29: 11 says – God has great plans for Marlene and I.

Last Night I Took A Journey

Last night I took a journey
To a land across the seas.
I didn’t go by ship or plane
I traveled on my knees.

I saw so many people there
In bondage to their sin,
And Jesus told me I should go,
That there were souls to win.

But I said “Jesus, I can’t go
To lands across the seas.”
He answered quickly, “Yes, you can
By traveling on your knees.”

He said, “You pray, I’ll meet the need.
You call, and I will hear.
It’s up to you to be concerned
For lost souls far and near.”

And so I did; knelt in prayer,
Gave up some hours of ease,
And with the Savior by my side,
I traveled on my knees.

As I prayed on, I saw souls saved
And twisted persons healed,
I saw God’s workers strength renewed
While laboring in the field.

I said, “Yes Lord, I’ll take the job.
Your heart I want to please.
I’ll heed Your call and swiftly go
By traveling on my knees.”
