Great Sermons Are Not Preached, They Are Lived!

I once heard, “Great sermons are not preached, they are lived.”

How challenging it is for us to read our Bibles every morning, and to absorb the teachings contained therein, and to put these powerful teachings into practice.

Let’s be completely honest about this; it’s very tough being a Christian and giving our life to Christ when we inhabit a body that is being tempted to sin!

That is why, in my humble opinion, it is absolutely essential that we spend as much time as possible each morning with our Heavenly Father, asking Him to prepare us for the day ahead and to help us and protect us from all the sinful opportunities being offered to us by Satan.

I know sometimes it’s hard to spend time with Jesus first thing in the morning.

But He knows what each day holds for us, and He longs to prepare us for every single problem He sees coming our way during the day.

Let’s accept His invitation to sit with Him. Let’s listen to Him intently. And let’s ask Him to intervene before our natural reactions to events betray our best intentions.

With many peaceful blessings

Lord Jeffrey Archer’s Favourite Bible Verse

Lord Jeffrey Archer is an International Best-Selling Author and Former Politician

(“I wrote a million words in the first year, and I could never have done that outside of prison.”)

My favourite Bible verse(s) are:

1 Corinthians 13: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity”.

1 Corinthians 13 was also a favourite scripture of my mother.

Blackrock Books

And a very good morning to you.

God is with you today and every day. Before I was saved nearly four years ago I was a serial sinner. I must have broken at least half of the Ten Commandments!

But since our Father God made His divine presence known to me my belief system has been totally renovated and revamped!

It is not an easy pathway that I can assure you. Many of the ‘Christians’ I have met seem, somehow, very shallow and synthetic. Many of them do not pick up a Bible from one Sunday to the next.

I have always been a writer/author, even before Jesus saved me. I have written a fair number of Christian orientated e-books.

I have just created an online store:-

https://blackrock-books.myshopify.com/

and I warmly invite you to take a look.

What kind of Christian are you? I hope that you will take the time to visit my new online bookstore – and even to purchase one or two books – there are most definitely books in my store for all Christians.

And to give you some encouragement (if you need it) when you enter the code 222444 when making a purchase or purchases you will receive a £3 discount if you spend more than £10.

I hope that you find my new online store full of interest.

Have a wonder-full day, in every way

God Bless

The Philatelic Wesley

I have a large number of books about John and Charles Wesley and about some of the early lay preachers,   But in my researches for this book I have discovered a lot of information of which I was previously unaware.

Each stamped envelope – most of which have been specially produced and created by the Methodist Philatelic Society –  has a card inside with appropriate information about the commemorative anniversary being celebrated.

In many instances I have added relevant information to that which was already included on the card insert.

I know that some of the material relating to the Wesleys will be fairly well known to many people reading this book but I suspect that there will be various Ministers and Lay Preachers of the 18th and 19th centuries, of which you may never have heard.

‘The Philatelic Wesley’ includes 136 pages of fascinating information and 25,000+ words and provides a very interesting snapshot of life in the 18th and 19th centuries.

‘The Philatelic Wesley’ costs £10.95 (including postage) and copies may be obtained by sending a cheque for £10.95 to: –
