For God’s Grace in our Helplessness

We know, Heavenly Father, that at this desperate hour in our world affairs, we need you. We need your strength, your guidance and your wisdom.

There are problems in our world far greater than any wisdom of man can solve. What should our Government do in such an hour?

May your wisdom and your power come upon our Prime Minister, Theresa May, her Ministers and members of her Government, to whom have been entrusted the guardianship of our United Kingdom.

May the responsibility lie heavily upon their hearts, until they are ready to acknowledge their helplessness and turn to you, dear Father for help and guidance.

Give them the honesty, the courage and the moral integrity to confess that they don’t know always what to do. Only then can they lead us as a nation beyond human wisdom to you, who alone has all the answers.

Lead us, creator God, in this high adventure. Remind us that a ‘mighty fortress is our God’ – not a hiding place where we can escape for an easy life, but rather a war room of courage and strength – the mightiest of all, who will march beside us into the battle for righteousness and world brotherhood.

Oh dear Father God, may we never recover from our feeling of helplessness and our need of you!

In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, our Lord, we humbly pray.

Amen

1 Samuel 1: 2

1 Samuel 1:2

This was Hannah’s prayer “How I rejoice in the Lord! How He has blessed me! Now I have an answer for my enemies. For the Lord has solved my problems”

She approached the Lord and cried out to Him. Hannah received from her Lord her heart’s desire. She was blessed.

Her heart could not contain her joy. Nothing else mattered or compared to her rejoicing in her Lord.

Her joy filled the depths of her soul. Unspeakable joy from an answered prayer. Victory over her enemies.

God had an answer for her situation. God has an answer for you.

Hannah had a sincere and loving heart. Her faithfulness and obedience were rewarded.

Hannah rejoiced and sang because she could give her son to the service of the Lord. She glorified God because He does great and mighty things for His people.

She made her sacrifice and then she sang out in her joy for what He had done.

Do you rejoice today for what He has done for you?

Prayer :

Glory, Glory to the Lord Most High.

Heavenly Father, you delight in granting the desires of my heart.

Thank you for the blessings that you have bestowed upon me.

In all circumstances I will give you praise for you are worthy of all my praise and worship. My Spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.

Praise him! Praise Him! Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Mighty God, Glory to His name. Rejoice and be glad. All glory, praise and honour.

Amen

My Mommy Went To Heaven

Mommy went to heaven, but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down, I need her right away.
Operator can you tell me how to find her in this book?
Is heaven in the yellow part, I don’t know where to look.

I think my daddy needs her too, at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes, but I really don’t know why.
Maybe if I call her, she will hurry home to me.
Is heaven very far away, is it across the sea?

She’s been gone a long, long time she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her, but I simply don’t know how.
Help me find the number please, is it listed under “Heaven”?
I can’t read these big big words, I am only seven.

I’m sorry operator, I didn’t mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too, or is there something in your eye?
If I call my church maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help, that’s the place to go.
I found the number to my church tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator, I’ll give them a call.

I said to the Man

I said to the Man who stood at the gate of the year,
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”

And he replied, “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God.
That shall be to you better than the light and safer than a known way!”

Little Sins

“To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.” DEUTERONOMY 10:14

“But you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” GENESIS 2:17

What has man done to God’s wonderful world? A world He created to benefit living, With every provision for body and mind. How deep is His love, how gracious His giving! Yet man in his limited knowledge and power Has sought to be God. Destroying and tainting The intricate detail and balance created By wisdom and overall infinite planning.

It began in the garden with dissatisfaction Of all the provision that God had ordained. And has grown through the centuries, out of proportion As Satan has tempted, deceived and profaned. Man: always wanting what God has forbidden, Reaching out for the fruit of untouchable tree!

How can we rectify, correct the damage This world has suffered through man’s liberty? God gave us free will to choose our vocation, To accept His provision and live by His plan, Or go our own way in search of authority, Fortune and fame and the things that tempt man!

But this path is proving the world’s sad undoing, This path is leading to horrors unknown, And until man awakes from his slumber of sinning God’s wonderful world cannot be His true home! Because of His love for this world and its people, Made in His image, yet gone far astray, He offered His Son that the world be delivered And His people return to His perfect way.

Still in His mercy God gives us the choices To continue the path leading only to death, Or return to the One Who made full provision And acknowledge His Sovereignty o’er all the earth!

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.”—Matt. 5:19.

A great many people are careful about breaking large commandments and committing grave sins, while they continually do little wrong things. They would not tell a direct lie for the world, but their speech is full of little falsehoods. They would not take money from the pocket or drawer of another, and yet they continually commit small thefts.

For example, the grocer by mistake gives them a little too much change, and they do not think of returning it. Through carelessness, the postage-stamp on a letter is left uncancelled, and they take it off and use it a second time.

They would not try to blacken a neighbour’s name or destroy his character, and yet they repeat to others the evil whispers about him which they have heard, and thus soil his reputation.

They would not swear or curse in the coarse way of the street, but they are continually using such words as “Gracious!” “Goodness!” “Mercy!” and other mild, timid substitutes for profane oaths.

They would not do flagrant acts of wickedness to disgrace themselves, but their lives are honeycombed with all manner of little meannesses, impurities, selfishnesses, and bad tempers. We need to remember that little disobediences bring one down to an inferior place in the kingdom of heaven. Little sins mar the beauty of the character. Then they are sure to grow.

Often, too, they are infinite in their consequences. The trickling leak in the dyke becomes a torrent, deluging vast plains. We ought never to indulge even the smallest faults or evil habits, but should aim always at perfection.

We ought to be satisfied with nothing less than perfection in character, and perfection is made up of small things.
